Sustainability, ESG & Social Value: Procurement, Tenders & Reporting
Turn your organisation's social value, sustainability and impact evidence into stronger commercial and stakeholder responses. Over three practical days, learners examine how to interpret procurement and reporting requirements, select evidence that is relevant to the question being asked, develop realistic commitments and create responses that are specific, measurable and supported by evidence rather than broad claims.
Social Value Tender, Procurement & Sustainability Training from West Yorkshire
Qualia Academy is based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and provides commercial social value, sustainability, ESG and tender training for organisations across Yorkshire and the North West. This advanced three-day programme is designed for organisations that need to communicate their social and environmental contribution more convincingly within bids, procurement exercises, funding requirements and organisational reporting.
Learners work with real organisational evidence and learn how to move from generic statements about being responsible or sustainable towards specific commitments, measurable outcomes and evidence-backed responses. It is suitable for businesses competing for contracts as well as charities and purpose-led organisations that need stronger impact evidence for funders, commissioners, partners and stakeholders.
When the Organisation Has Good Evidence but Struggles to Turn It into a Strong Response
A weak tender response does not necessarily mean the organisation lacks social value. Often the evidence exists but is scattered, the response is too generic, commitments are not measurable or the answer does not directly address what the buyer, commissioner or funder has actually asked.
The same generic social-value paragraph is reused in every tender.
Start with the requirement, not the template.
Learners analyse what the individual question is asking, identify the relevant priority and select evidence and commitments that directly answer it.
The response lists everything the organisation has ever done rather than the evidence most relevant to the contract or opportunity.
Select before writing.
Learners build an evidence-selection process based on relevance, strength, recency and connection to the requirement being addressed.
Commitments sound positive but cannot later be monitored or evidenced.
Make commitments measurable before submitting them.
Learners define action, ownership, timescale, indicator and evidence so commitments can be monitored after the contract or project starts.
The organisation promises more than it has the resources or influence to deliver.
Challenge the commitment before it becomes contractual.
Learners assess whether proposed activity is relevant, deliverable, owned and capable of being evidenced rather than writing aspirational promises.
Different teams use different ESG, sustainability and social-value language to describe the same activity.
Create one evidence narrative.
Learners organise evidence around clear themes, outcomes and organisational priorities so information can be adapted without becoming contradictory.
Evidence is collected for the tender and then forgotten once the contract starts.
Connect the bid to delivery and reporting.
Learners create commitments that can move into mobilisation, monitoring and reporting rather than remaining promises in the submission document.
Stop Writing Social Value from Scratch Every Time an Opportunity Appears
Strong social-value responses should begin long before the tender portal opens.
The organisation needs to understand what it already does, what outcomes it can evidence, where the strongest examples sit and which commitments it can realistically make in future.
Package 3 brings that information together and shows learners how to apply it.
Learners analyse requirements, connect them with organisational priorities, select relevant evidence, develop measurable commitments and structure clearer written responses.
The same evidence discipline can also strengthen ESG, sustainability and impact reporting by making claims more specific and easier to substantiate.
The objective is not to produce the longest response. It is to produce a response that answers the requirement clearly and can still be evidenced after the commitment has been made.
Interpret → Evidence → Commit → Write → Monitor
This creates a repeatable process that can be applied to different contracts, funding opportunities and reporting requirements rather than relying on one generic response.
Interpret
Break down the requirement and identify exactly what the buyer, funder or stakeholder wants to understand.
Evidence
Select previous delivery and organisational evidence that is directly relevant to the requirement.
Commit
Develop realistic future activity with ownership, timescales, indicators and evidence requirements.
Write
Structure the response so the reader can easily identify the action, evidence, outcome and delivery approach.
Monitor
Turn successful commitments into practical measures that can be tracked and reported after delivery begins.

Evidence of the Past + Commitment for the Future
A strong response needs to distinguish what the organisation has already achieved from what it is proposing to deliver if successful.
1. Requirement
What outcome, priority or question is the buyer, funder or commissioner actually asking the organisation to address?
2. Evidence
What previous activity, outcomes, data or examples demonstrate that the organisation understands and can deliver in this area?
3. Commitment
What will the organisation realistically do during the contract, programme or funded activity?
4. Measurement
Who will own the commitment, when will it happen, how will progress be measured and what evidence will be retained?
Ask Whether the Commitment Could Still Be Defended After the Contract Starts
Move from Generic Claims to Evidence-Led Commitments
Improve Tender Readiness
Organise social-value and sustainability evidence before a live procurement opportunity creates a deadline.
Strengthen Written Responses
Build answers around the actual requirement rather than reusing generic responsible-business wording.
Reduce Overpromising
Challenge proposed commitments against capacity, relevance, ownership and evidence before they are made.
Improve Contract Reporting
Connect tender commitments with delivery measures and evidence from the outset.
Strengthen Funder Evidence
Use the same evidence discipline to create clearer outcome reporting for funding and commissioning relationships.
Build Organisational Memory
Retain evidence, examples and reporting material so organisational knowledge is not lost between bids, projects or employees.
Build Someone Inside the Organisation Who Can Challenge the Evidence Before the Submission Leaves
What the Learner Becomes Better Able to Do
Interpret social-value, sustainability and ESG requirements in the context of the opportunity.
Distinguish previous-delivery evidence from future commitments.
Select organisational evidence that is genuinely relevant to the question being answered.
Develop more specific and measurable commitments.
Structure responses around outcomes, evidence, delivery and measurement.
Challenge vague, unrealistic or unsupported claims before they enter a submission.

Better organisation of previous-delivery evidence and case studies.
Clearer rules for developing realistic social-value commitments.
Better alignment between bid commitments and delivery teams.
Stronger reporting evidence for commissioners, funders, customers and other stakeholders.
Less dependence on recreating organisational impact evidence every time a new opportunity appears.
Social Value & Sustainability Evidence Pack + Bid & Tender Social Value Framework
Package 3 is designed to leave the organisation with a reusable commercial resource rather than one example tender answer.
The learner organises previous evidence, develops a method for analysing future requirements and creates a structure for converting organisational capability into specific, measurable and reportable responses.
For Organisations That Need Their Social Value Evidence to Work Harder
This programme works across commercial, charitable and purpose-led organisations because the underlying skill is the same: understand the requirement, select appropriate evidence, make realistic commitments and demonstrate how delivery will be measured.
Sustainability, ESG & Social Value: Procurement, Tenders & Reporting
£885 per person · 3 training daysThree practical days focused on interpreting requirements, selecting evidence, developing measurable commitments, strengthening tender responses and connecting promises with monitoring and reporting.
Learners complete the programme with a Social Value & Sustainability Evidence Pack and Bid & Tender Social Value Framework based around their own organisation.
The Time to Find Your Social Value Evidence Is Not the Night Before the Tender Deadline
Tell us what types of contracts, procurement opportunities, funding requirements or reports your organisation needs to respond to and where your current evidence sits. We can help determine whether Package 3 is the right next step.
Discuss the Programme →Procurement, Tenders & Reporting FAQs
Is this a general bid-writing course?
No. The programme focuses specifically on social value, sustainability, ESG and impact evidence within procurement, tender, funding and reporting requirements. It is not intended to replace broader commercial bid-writing training.
Will the programme tell us exactly what every tender requires?
No. Individual buyers, commissioners and funders can set different requirements and evaluation criteria. The programme therefore develops a method for interpreting each opportunity rather than assuming one social-value template will work everywhere.
Is this suitable for charities as well as businesses?
Yes. Businesses may apply the learning to procurement and tender opportunities, while charities can use the same evidence principles for funding, commissioning, stakeholder and impact-reporting requirements.
Does it cover ESG?
Yes. The programme helps learners understand how environmental, social and governance-related information may sit alongside wider responsible business and social-value evidence. The exact reporting information required will depend on the organisation and the individual requirement.
Does this help us build an evidence pack?
Yes. One of the main outputs is a Social Value & Sustainability Evidence Pack containing relevant organisational evidence, examples, impact material, evidence gaps and reusable supporting information.
Does the course help with measurable tender commitments?
Yes. Learners develop commitments using clear actions, ownership, timescales, indicators and evidence so the organisation can assess whether the promise is realistic before it is submitted.
Do we need to complete Packages 1 and 2 first?
Not necessarily. Package 3 can be suitable for an organisation that already has clear social-value priorities and strong impact evidence. Where those foundations are missing, Packages 1 and 2 provide a more structured route into the advanced programme.
How is Package 3 different from Package 2?
Package 2 focuses on measuring outcomes and building credible impact evidence. Package 3 focuses on using that evidence within procurement, tenders, funding requirements and organisational reporting.
What is Package 4?
Package 4 is the Complete Social Value & Sustainability Programme: From Strategy to Evidence. It combines Packages 1, 2 and 3 into one seven-day pathway covering responsible-business strategy, impact measurement, evidence, procurement, tenders and reporting.
How much does Package 3 cost?
The complete three-day programme costs £885 per person.
We Do Not Teach You to Make Bigger Claims. We Teach You to Make Stronger Ones.
Evidence Before Wording
Learners establish what the organisation can genuinely demonstrate before trying to make the response sound more impressive.
Relevant, Not Generic
Each opportunity is interpreted against its own requirements rather than relying on a universal social-value paragraph.
Promise What You Can Deliver
Commitments are tested against ownership, resources, timescales and evidence so the organisation can still stand behind them after delivery begins.
Turn Your Social Value & Sustainability Evidence into Stronger, More Defensible Commercial Responses
Over three practical days, learners interpret requirements, organise organisational evidence, develop realistic commitments, strengthen social-value responses and create a Social Value & Sustainability Evidence Pack and Bid & Tender Social Value Framework that can be reused across future opportunities.
