Neurodiversity Employee Training Program Kirklees residents

Neurodiversity training: In today’s evolving workplaces, there’s a growing recognition of the importance of neurodiversity. Many individuals in the workforce, including those in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), experience challenges that come with being neurodivergent. That’s why we’re excited to launch a funded training program designed to empower and equip neurodivergent employees with the strategies and resources they need to thrive at work. This is an excellent opportunity for those who live or work in the Kirklees area to enhance their work experience and build skills for success.

About the Program

The Neurodiversity Training Program consists of four half-day sessions delivered via Microsoft Teams, making it flexible and accessible for busy schedules. Importantly, no official diagnosis of a neurodivergent condition is required to participate—whether you’re autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, or simply identify with neurodivergent traits, this program is designed to support you. Our mission is to create a more inclusive and productive workplace culture in SMEs across Kirklees. If you are unsure whether your area classes as Kirklees use this postcode checker to have a look where your postcode area is.

What You’ll Learn

Each session covers essential topics to help neurodivergent employees feel more empowered, resilient, and knowledgeable in their roles. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Managing Neurodiversity in the Workplace

   – Learn practical strategies to enhance focus, organisation, and productivity in a neurodivergent-friendly way.

   – Discover ways to leverage your unique strengths and develop personalised methods for managing common challenges, such as sensory sensitivity or executive functioning.

2. Coping with Neurodivergence

   – Gain valuable tools for handling stress and building resilience, addressing everything from managing emotions to navigating work relationships.

   – Find out how to create a work environment that aligns with your needs, whether that’s through structuring your day, using technology, or setting personal goals.

3. Disclosing Neurodiversity at Work

   – Understand your rights and options when it comes to disclosing neurodivergent traits or conditions to employers and colleagues.

   – Receive guidance on how to communicate your needs effectively and constructively, allowing for open and supportive dialogue.

4. Accessing a Neurodiversity Diagnosis

   – Explore the process of obtaining a diagnosis if it’s something you’re interested in, including where to begin and what resources are available.

   – Learn about the potential benefits of a formal diagnosis and how it can unlock additional support at work.

Leveraging Available Support: DWP Access to Work and More

One of the most valuable parts of this neurodiversity training program is learning about the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Access to Work scheme. This government initiative can provide financial and practical support for neurodivergent employees, covering everything from adaptive tools to mental health support.

You’ll also get insights on additional resources:

   – What local and online services are available for neurodivergent support.

   – Tools and techniques that can improve your workplace efficacy, from assistive technology to mindfulness practices.

   – Methods to assess and select the right resources to complement your role and goals.

Who Can Apply?

This neurodiversity training program is open to anyone who lives or works in the Kirklees area and identifies as neurodivergent, whether or not they have an official diagnosis.
