National Purple Day

Cassidy Megan, the founder of National Purple Day, was diagnosed with epilepsy at a young age. Inspired by her own experiences living with the condition, Cassidy recognised the need for greater awareness and support for individuals affected by epilepsy. In 2008, at just nine years old, Cassidy took the initiative to raise awareness by creating National Purple Day.

The choice of the colour purple was deliberate and meaningful. Lavender, a shade of purple, is often associated with solitude, mindfulness, and awareness. Cassidy believed that purple embodied the spirit of epilepsy awareness, encouraging people to reflect on the challenges faced by those living with the condition and fostering a sense of unity and support within the community.

On National Purple Day, people are encouraged to wear purple clothing or accessories, decorate their homes or workplaces with purple decorations, and share educational resources about epilepsy on social media platforms. The goal is to spark conversations, dispel myths and misconceptions, and promote understanding and support for individuals living with epilepsy and their families.

The Colour Purple

The colour purple carries a wealth of symbolic meanings, touching upon various aspects of human emotion, spirituality, and culture. Here’s a comprehensive look at what purple represents:

Spirituality and Mysticism:

Purple’s spiritual significance is deeply ingrained across cultures, reflecting its association with the divine and the mystical. In addition to its representation of the Crown Chakra in Hinduism, purple holds sacred meaning in various spiritual traditions worldwide. It is often used in rituals, ceremonies, and sacred spaces to invoke spiritual connection, inner wisdom, and enlightenment.

The ethereal quality of purple evokes a sense of transcendence, inviting individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. Through meditation, prayer, and contemplation, purple serves as a conduit for accessing higher states of consciousness and expanding one’s understanding of the universe.

Furthermore, purple is believed to possess healing properties, both physically and spiritually. Its calming presence soothes the mind, body, and spirit, facilitating a sense of inner peace and harmony. Whether used in meditation practices, energy healing techniques, or spiritual ceremonies, purple serves as a beacon of spiritual guidance and enlightenment.

Creativity and Imagination:

Purple’s vibrant and dynamic energy stimulates the imagination and fuels creative expression. It is a colour of inspiration, encouraging individuals to explore new ideas, experiment with different mediums, and push the boundaries of artistic innovation. From the swirling hues of a painter’s palette to the intricate melodies of a musician’s composition, purple infuses creativity with depth, mystery, and beauty.

Moreover, purple’s versatility allows for endless interpretations and applications in the realm of art and design. Its rich tones can evoke a sense of opulence and luxury in fashion, while its softer shades convey a mood of tranquillity and introspection in interior design. Artists and creators often gravitate towards purple for its ability to evoke emotion, spark imagination, and captivate the senses.

In essence, purple serves as a muse for those seeking to channel their creative energies and bring their visions to life. Its dynamic presence inspires artists, writers, and innovators to explore the depths of their imagination and create works that resonate with the soul.

Individuality and Uniqueness:

Purple celebrates individuality, diversity, and self-expression, inviting people to embrace their true selves and celebrate their unique identity. It is a colour that defies conformity and thrives on authenticity, encouraging individuals to express their individuality with confidence and pride.

Those drawn to purple are often seen as independent thinkers and trendsetters who embrace their eccentricities and chart their own path in life. Whether through fashion choices, lifestyle preferences, or creative pursuits, purple enthusiasts exude a sense of confidence and authenticity that inspires others to do the same.

Furthermore, purple’s association with royalty and nobility adds an element of regal elegance to one’s personal style, symbolising strength, sophistication, and grace. Whether worn as a statement piece or incorporated into everyday attire, purple serves as a reminder to stand out, stay true to oneself, and embrace the beauty of individuality.

Transformation and Change:

Purple symbolises transformation, change, and personal growth, reflecting the cyclical nature of life and the journey of self-discovery. Like the changing hues of twilight, purple embodies the transition from one state to another, from darkness to light, from ignorance to enlightenment.

Purple serves as a beacon of hope and renewal, inspiring individuals to embrace change with courage and resilience. It symbolises the potential for growth and transformation that lies within each of us, encouraging us to shed old patterns, beliefs, and limitations in order to emerge stronger, wiser, and more aligned with our true selves.

Sensitivity and Compassion:

Purple’s soft, soothing tone evokes feelings of empathy, compassion, and understanding, making it a colour of emotional intelligence and sensitivity. It encourages individuals to connect with others on a deeper level and offer support and kindness to those in need.

Those who embody the spirit of purple demonstrate empathy, compassion, and understanding in their interactions with others. They listen with an open heart, offer words of encouragement, and extend a helping hand to those who are struggling. In times of hardship or uncertainty, purple serves as a beacon of hope and healing, reminding us to show compassion and kindness to ourselves and others.

In essence, purple serves as a reminder to approach life with empathy, compassion, and understanding. It encourages us to cultivate kindness in our hearts, extend compassion to those in need, and create a world where all beings are valued, respected, and loved.

Tribute to Georgette Thomas

On this special day we also honour the cherished memory Georgette Thomas, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, we dedicate this section with heartfelt gratitude and fond remembrance. Georgette’s radiant presence extended far beyond her family circle, as she embraced her role as a cherished daughter, sister, and friend with grace and generosity. Her genuine kindness, infectious laughter, and genuine concern for others endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Purple was Georgette’s favourite colour, a vibrant hue that reflected her vibrant personality and zest for life. Just as purple symbolizes wisdom, spirituality, and transformation, Georgette brought these qualities into the lives of those around her. In honour of Georgette’s profound impact on our lives and her enduring legacy of love and friendship, we’ve embraced purple as a central element of our company’s brand identity. Just as Georgette’s vibrant spirit illuminated our lives with warmth and joy, the colour purple infuses our brand with vitality, creativity, and compassion. It serves as a tribute to her indomitable spirit and reminds us to approach our work with the same dedication, passion, and kindness that she exemplified every day.

Though Georgette may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and the legacy of love and kindness she leaves behind. May her gentle spirit continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us of the power of love, friendship, and the enduring beauty of a life well-lived.
